What is the IBusCard?

It's the Internet Business Card.  It's like a regular business card, except it's on the internet.  You hand it out to people on the internet just like you hand out a regular business card.  How do you hand it out?  You put the URL (web address) of your IBusCard in either the signature or the body of an email.  The recipient of the email clicks on the URL (web address) and goes right to your IBusCard which resides on my server.  If the recipient cannot do click and browse from their email they can simply cut and paste the URL into their web browser.

How much does it cost?

That's a fantastic question and I've got an even more fantastic answer.  Sorry, it's not free.  It is inexpensive though.  What is the cost of 500 regular business cards?  About $50 per 500, right?  The IBusCard cost only $24.99 (USD) per year.  That's half the price of a paper business card and the number of cards you can "hand out" is unlimited.

Note:  The ability to place your IBusCard in those large brandy glasses you see in some restaurants and win a free lunch is not yet available

Do I have to be a business to get an IBusCard?

No way!  Anyone can buy an IBusCard.  It's a great gift idea.  Give an IBusCard to a friend or family member for Christmas or a birthday.  It's a simple, effective, and practical way to get your information to an email recipient without clogging up your email with a long and boring signature.

What else can I do with an IBusCard?

Well, you can't pick your teeth with them.  Nor can you fold them in half or quarters and use them to prop up wobbly tables.  But...you can refer to the web address of the IBusCard  in printed materials.  This could save you some money in advertising.  As an example, you might put just your company name, or your product name, or just an eye catching phrase, and the URL of your IBusCard in a newpaper add. The curious customer will find you.  Since the price of many newpaper and magazine ads are based on the number of words, you might save money because you're using fewer words.  Another "feature" of the IBusCard is that your contacts can download it and save it locally as part of their contact information.  Remember, the IBusCard, like any HTML is completely downloadable to your local machine, if that suits your needs.  You might use your IBusCard as part of a live computer slide presentations.  Thank about this, you, and your customers, can just simply bookmark your IBusCard URL.  Then your bookmarks become quick and dirty (well--not so dirty maybe) contact information from within your web browser.  I'm sure you can think of all sorts of uses for this product but it's main purpose is...well...to be an internet business card.  Need I say more?   Get yours today!

What can I put on my IBusCard?  What options are there?

Basically, your IBusCard would include whatever you would normally put on your paper business card.  And like paper business cards, one IBusCard looks pretty much the same as another.  This is a good thing.  As with paper business cards, people know what to expect.  People like that.  You get to choose a basic color, preferably one that matches something in logo graphic or one of your organizations standard colors. The rest is done by me.  There is a little flexibility but the idea is to stick to the basic format.

This might include:

  • a card title (often the company or product name).
  • Your name and title
  • a small logo graphic (10K max., 5K preferred).  A logo graphic is not always necessary.  In the sample IBusCard I have not included a logo.  The IBusCard loads faster, obviously, if you do not include graphics.
  • up to three (3) lines for the address. Okay I'll allow four (4) lines for those who need that many.
  • two (2) telephone numbers, with extensions (business/home or local business/1-800), one fax number and a TTY number.
  • an email address with a hypertext link.
  • a web page URL(if applicable) and, of course, a hyperlink to it.
  • A one or two line card caption eg. your company mission statement or a product motto.

Please note that a very small graphic linking back to the IBusCard web page will appear in the lower right corner of the card. See sample IBusCard

What you CAN'T put on a IBusCard
You can't put anything deemed as "adult material" or illegal on the IBusCard (this includes graphics, text, references, email addresses or hyperlinks).  You can't put information pertaining to companies that are known to provide or promote "spam" (ie. bulk, or wide scale, random, unsolicited email).  You can't have an IBusCard if you dislike aardvarks! No, just kidding. After all, everyone loves aardvarks, right??

How do I order and pay for my IBusCard?

Currently I have no specific on-line ordering system.  There are three ways to order your IBusCard:

  1. This is the preferred method. You can email me your information along with an attached logo graphic. Please make sure your logo is less than 10Kb in size (preferably less than 5Kb) and is in .GIF or .JPG format.
  2. You can pop your business cards in the regular mail along with other pertinent information. Don't forget to include your email address if you have one. Please include a floppy disk with your logo graphics file.
  3. You can fax a copy of your business card(s), or just the information to include. You will need to get a logo graphic to me some other way.
If you require scanning and graphics work to get your logo IBusCard ready the cost will be $25 per hour, with a minimum of one (1) hour. Please indicate in your email, letter, or fax that you are willing to pay for any graphics work that may be required.

I'll generate your IBusCard, post it on the server, and email you instructions on where to find and how to use your new IBusCard. When you receive the email send me a cheque or money order.  Yes, I'll accept personal cheques, after all I can just simply delete the IBusCard if I don't get your check (or cheque from Canada) or if it bounces.  You can also just send a check or money order along with a mailed request for the IBusCard product.  I will be looking into other on-line means of payment but for now that's the best I can do.  Of course, if you live near Portland, Maine you can just give me the cash, and your business card, and a floppy disk with your logo.

Note (some of the fine print):  Until I get a credit card or some sort of virtual payment system in place, Canadian and other international customers are going to have to pay in United States dollars.  I apologize for this inconvenience (and possibly added cost) and will attempt to rectify this situation as soon as possible.  If you don't have email you must include the payment for your IBusCard with your order.  Invoices, as well as receipts, will be sent by email only and where applicable will include sales and other tax, over and above the $24.99 USD per year price.  Unless there are errors on the part of Zaboo Enterprises (that's me) there will be no refunds on, nor revisions to, an IBusCard.
