Multidisciplinary WWW Subject
Directories for Scholars
This selective guide is intended to help scholars access multidisciplinary,
subject-oriented, Web-based directories to Internet resources. It primarily
covers directories that have been by academic libraries. It focuses on
directories that have fairly broad and deep coverage of sources. It does
not cover single-subject directories; however, such directories may be
found by using the multidisciplinary directories included here.
RiceInfo: Internet

The
WWW Virtual Library
The VL is the oldest catalog of the web, started by Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the web itself. Unlike commercial catalogs, it
is run by a loose confederation of volunteers, who compile pages of key links for particular areas in which they are expert; even
though it isn't the biggest index of the web, the VL pages are widely recognised as being amongst the highest-quality guides to
particular sections of the web.
